8.3. Possible compatibility adaptations during import

When a known case requires it, SQLmig can apply adaptations during import without modifying the original dump file. Depending on the migration path, this may include:

  • certain MySQL 8 collations that are incompatible with MySQL 5.7;
  • older InnoDB row formats and KEY_BLOCK_SIZE;
  • modes related to zero/partial dates for the import session;
  • a “sandbox” directive present in some recent MariaDB dumps.

Always test

An automatic adaptation does not guarantee that an application will work correctly after migration. Test the schemas, data, and the application itself before any final switchover.
