13.1. Before a migration

Create a recent backup and verify that it can be used.
Test the migration on a copy or a staging environment, especially for a downgrade, a change of database engine, or a major version upgrade.
Verify the permissions of the SQL account used on the Source and Target.
Install the SQL clients corresponding to your server versions.
Use the Source/Target permissions on the server cards to prevent accidental writing to a sensitive server.
Run the prechecks and resolve any errors before creating the migration dump.
